BROOKLYN, N.Y. May 6, 2010 St. Josephs College Community Advisory Council and the Brooklyn Kings County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce that they will hold a Brooklyn Business Expo on Thursday, May 20, from 2 to 8 p.m. at St. Josephs College Tuohy Hall Auditorium, 245 Clinton Avenue.
This Expo will bring together all sectors of the Brooklyn business community and provide them with a chance to network, discover new opportunities and to procure the necessary information, knowledge and contacts to succeed. In addition, guests will be able to participate in three workshops that will address the Certification Process for Procurement from NYC/NYS, Consumer Affairs-Licensing, and Import/Export Business for Entrepreneurs.
Created by the Business Department on the Brooklyn Campus of St. Joseph's College, the Community Advisory Council plays a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative and congenial business environment in the neighborhood. Through its partnerships with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC )of Brooklyn, NL Financial Alliance, Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President and Fort Greene Strategic Neighborhood Action Partnership(SNAP), the Community Advisory Council seeks to strengthen existing alliances in the community, monitor local economic trends, and explore the latest and best practices in the workplace while sharing this information with its members.
The mission of the Brooklyn Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is to foster trade, commerce, prosperity and community among business owners in Brooklyn. Through the reform of abuses involving business, professional or financial interest and by securing and lobbying for freedom from unjust or unlawful exactions, the Chamber seeks to not only advance the civic, commercial and industrial interest of Brooklyn Hispanic business owners, but for the Brooklyn business community as a whole.
