BROOKLYN, N.Y. September 14, 2009 With over 200 new freshmen, St. Josephs College is pleased to announce that this years incoming freshman class is the largest in the history of the Brooklyn Campus. This news follows St. Josephs recent rankings in both U.S. News & World Report and Forbes Magazines "Americas Best Colleges issues for the 2009-10 academic year.
"This has truly been a banner year for new student enrollment at the Brooklyn Campus," said Theresa LaRocca Meyer, vice president for enrollment management at St. Josephs College. "Not only is the freshman class of 204 the largest in the history of the College, but the academic quality of the group is equally as impressive.
St. Josephs College was recently ranked for the eighth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report to its top-tier of "Northern Comprehensive Colleges Bachelors category, receiving a tie-ranking of 17 with Endicott College for 2010. U.S. News & World Report bases its annual rankings on graduation and retention rate, faculty resources, selectivity, faculty/student ratio and the assessment of each school from its peers. St. Josephs Colleges strong freshman retention rate helped secure the institutions spot in the top-tier, while the Colleges continuing dedication to highly personalized instruction is reflected in the 15:1 faculty-student ratio and the fact that the majority of classes have fewer than 30 students.
St. Joseph's was also named to Forbes Magazine's "Americas Best Colleges online issue for the second consecutive year. Maintaining its overall high ranking of 13 in New York State, St. Josephs College offers one of the lowest tuitions of all private colleges in the tri-state area. Criteria for ranking by Forbes Magazine is based on the average student debt at graduation, percentage of students graduating in four years and the number of students or faculty who win national competitive awards.
