As culture changes and new modes of expression develop, curious and creative minds will continue to discover meaning through visual exploration. The St. Joseph's University, New York art department offers a range of studio, art history and theory courses incorporating diverse artistic approaches across cultural, social and geographic boundaries.
Our Brooklyn campus offers 18-credit minors in studio, art history and art studio/history. Our courses are open to all students, who learn from a faculty with extensive academic and exhibition credentials. These programs allow students to focus on areas of interest in two-dimensional, three-dimensional and digital media.
Studio courses include graphic design, Web design, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, sculpture, ceramics and crafts. Art History courses span prehistoric through the modern era and examine contemporary visual culture.
The University van transports students on art field trips to the Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, among other sites, enhancing students’ learning.
