Campus Ministry hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, in conjunction with other areas of student life, to help make your experience here at St. Joseph’s University one to remember.
The programs that we offer are designed to help enrich your faith and build life-giving relationships. Our events range from service projects, such as a Thanksgiving food drive; social events like a monthly Coffee House; spiritual events that include Weekly Mass; and many other events and activities that encourage students to come together and build friendships with people of varying backgrounds and interests.
Here's a quick overview of what semester events our Office of Campus Ministry offers.
We offer Mass twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays during Common Hour inside the Chapel on the second floor of the new Student Center. At the beginning of the academic year we will also hold a special Mass to welcome the campus community. We conduct other liturgies throughout the year for special holy days.
We collect and deliver cases of food and donations to local families and outreach centers, while disseminating information about hunger, homelessness and need. Numerous individuals, offices and clubs participate. During the three weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, St. Joseph's University collects food, store gift cards and holiday items. The donations will be delivered to local agencies and families in need.
We adopt 30 families for the holidays, advertise their wishes, coordinate the gift-giving (from all across the campuses!) and volunteers pack and deliver the gifts to the families before the holiday.
To celebrate the end of the fall semester as well as prepare for the donation of Christmas gifts, we host an annual wrap party where we spend the last day of finals wrapping the gifts that will be donated to families in need. This gives the students an opportunity to end the semester on a positive and charitable note.
Campus Ministry participates with St. Joseph the Worker Soup Kitchen once a month, as well as St. Anthony’s Shelter in the Bronx. When volunteering with these kitchens, we cook and engage with the community of participants whop are in need.
Join us once a month for a gathering for free coffee, fellowship, and an opportunity to learn more about other members of our University community.
Join us via Zoom each week as we reflect on the Gospel reading for the day and pray for the various intentions of our community.
