Develop advanced knowledge in the diverse field of psychology.
Enhance your career options with any of St. Joseph’s University's three online psychology programs. We offer certificates in industrial-organizational (IO) psychology and applied behavioral analysis, along with a minor in psychology.
With our online Certificate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, you'll enhance your career by developing unique skills that focus on human behavior in the workplace. Learn how to make employees’ jobs more efficient and enjoyable by studying trends and fundaments of business and behavior, ultimately maximizing a company’s potential.
The applied behavioral analysis certificate prepares educators to work as licensed behavior analysts. With a focus on behavior interventions, planning and implementation, educators can use this advanced certificate to teach functional behavior skills to individuals at every age level — infancy through adulthood.
Minoring in psychology can expand your understanding of how people think, feel and behave. Use this knowledge to interact more effectively in any professional environment.
As licensed behavior analysts, students have the opportunity to work with individuals who have a medical diagnosis of autism, autism spectrum disorders or related disorders in a variety of public and private settings — including schools, homes, day programs, communities, residential and vocational training settings, businesses and related human service agencies.
The certificate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology will allow students to develop key specialized expertise in the application of psychological concepts to workplace environments. Individuals with knowledge of Industrial-Organizational Psychology apply psychological principles to a variety of work-related areas including human resources, employee testing and selection, training and development, and policy development related to work satisfaction, productivity and health.
Whether you’re an adult deciding to pursue or complete a university degree, a professional seeking a different career path, or a service member looking to complement your military background and experience, a B.S. in Psychology from SJNY is a great choice for you. Our program will help you achieve an understanding of human thoughts and behaviors – a fundamental aspect of many professions – and attract interest from employers of all types.
The strong academic foundation of St. Joseph’s psychology majors prepares students for entry-level jobs in social service agencies, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, hospitals, nursing homes, pharmaceutical firms, rehabilitation centers, community organizations, religious organizations, research positions, and correctional institutions. In addition to career readiness, those completing their B.S. in Psychology from SJNY will be prepared to further their education in many graduate-level psychology and related programs.
To fulfill a psychology minor, students must complete 18 credits with no more than 6 credits at 100-level courses, or two 100-level courses. PSY 100 is required for all minors. Other elective psychology courses are to be selected with departmental advisement and should complement the student’s major. Human relations or child study majors with a psychology concentration may not declare psychology as a minor.
IO psychologists hold significant positions within companies across the country. Possible careers associated with IO psychology include working at consulting and executive search firms, leadership centers and corporations as well as universities. IO psychologists also work heavily within human resources — placing people in the right jobs and developing wellness plans for small and large size companies.
